How to demotivate your team and lose their respect in two easy steps
It’s a cultural norm at the company my friend works at, that new employees are treated to lunch on their first day by the team.
Today, her boss notified her that because of the snow storm, she, her boss, and the new employee were the only folks who were in the office. You would think this would get her a few props— but no, not at this company.
She was then told that the lunch was going to be put off until more of the team members were in the office; understandable.
Thirty minutes later her boss left for lunch with the new employee leaving her behind. She did not bring her lunch because of the tradition of the team taking the new member out, but this did not seem to matter to her boss.
How would you assume this effected “team spirit”?
